Treatment
Alpha Laser Hair Removal’s diode or IPL system targets the follicle that produces body hair and inhibits its capacity to grow without impacting or damaging the surrounding skin and structures. Since hair follicles are active at different times, several sessions of laser hair removal will be needed for a permanent reduction. It is requested that any hair in the treatment area be shaven (NOT tweezed or waxed) so that the laser can target the hair in the follicle vs the hair on the surface of the skin. The diode and IPL are automatically cooled to 5 degrees to ensure optimal comfort and to safeguard the surface layer of the skin.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long will It take to see results?:
Laser Hair Removal results vary greatly among individuals. Some will see a dramatic reduction in unwanted body hair simply after 1 session, whereas some will require multiple sessions to notice a tangible difference. Your laser technician will be able to better assess the amount of sessions you will need with a complimentary consultation.
How long will results last?:
Laser Hair Removal results are long-lasting. Many clients will not experience a regrowth of unwanted body hair in the treated areas. However, sometimes hormonal growth can happen. Touch-up treatments are recommended if you notice hair growth in previously treated areas.
What should I expect after a treatment?:
Experiences vary depending on the client, but some individuals may experience some tenderness, redness and raised follicles, and itchiness. These symptoms may not appear in most cases, however it is important to not pick or scratch to avoid inflammation. You may apply ice or take an antihistamine to reduce any of the above symptoms.
Post Treatment:
Red bumps or irritation may occur after treatment that may itch. This type of reaction may not appear in most cases, but is normal if it does and will disappear in a couple of days – after which dryness or crusting may occur. It is important not to pick or scratch any irritation that may happen in the treatment site. Should there be any discomfort in the area, you may apply ice to reduce inflammation.
What To Do Before Your Appointment
Before your appointment:
Shave as much of the treatment area as you can prior to treatment. Try not to shave immediately before, as it can increase the potential for inflammation. This step is important to ensure the energy is absorbed by the follicle and not the hair on the surface of the skin.
Avoid sun exposure:
Exposure to sunlight can cause your skin to become more sensitive to the light energy used in the removal process. If you do need to be outside, use sunscreen that blocks UVA and UVB rays and cover up your skin. We will not be able to treat areas with active suntans or sunburns.
Do not tweeze or wax:
This method of hair removal can remove the hair directly from the follicle. The root is necessary to be targeted by the laser.
